Trivon Tablet – Antidepressant for Depression

Trivon Tablet is primarily used for the treatment of depression. It helps relieve symptoms such as deep sadness, lack of interest in activities, feelings of worthlessness, anxiety, fatigue, sleep disturbances, and appetite or weight changes. It works by restoring the balance of chemical messengers in the brain.

How Trivon Tablet Works?

Trivon Tablet contains Tranylcypromine, a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI). Depression is often associated with low levels of certain neurotransmitters (monoamines) in the brain. Trivon blocks the enzyme monoamine oxidase, which normally breaks down monoamines. As a result, levels of monoamines such as serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine increase in the brain, helping improve mood and emotional stability.

How to Use Trivon Tablet?

• Take Trivon Tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
• Swallow it whole with water. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet.
• It can be taken with or without food, but taking it at the same time daily is recommended to maintain consistent levels in the blood.
• Do not miss doses. If you miss one, take it as soon as you remember. Do not double the dose.
• Do not stop taking the medicine abruptly without consulting your doctor.

Common Side Effects of Trivon Tablet:

Drug Interactions (Life-Threatening):

Do not take Trivon Tablet with the following medicines due to the risk of serotonin syndrome or other severe reactions. Maintain at least a 2-week gap after stopping Trivon before starting any of these medications:

• Zolmitriptan: May cause agitation, high fever, fast heart rate, muscle stiffness, and loss of coordination.
• Fenfluramine: Risk of serotonin syndrome with symptoms like diarrhea, tremors, fever, and agitation.
• Dapoxetine: Can cause dangerously high serotonin levels. Watch for mental and physical agitation, fever, and coordination issues.
• Vilazodone: May result in fatal serotonin toxicity with symptoms similar to the above.
• Desvenlafaxine: Potentially life-threatening serotonin elevation. Monitoring potassium levels may be required.

Precautions while using Trivon Tablet:

• Inform your doctor about any existing liver, kidney, or mental health issues.
• Let your doctor know if you experience worsening depression, unusual mood changes, or suicidal thoughts.
• Regular monitoring of liver function and blood parameters may be required during long-term use.
